Welcome to Beech Class. The Class Teacher is Ms Sally Mead and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Dixson-Smith. PSD coaching consisting of Ross Kitteridge, Luke Heskett and Aaron Cameron-Prior come in to teach PE on a Wednesday afternoon. Our P.E lessons are on a Wednesday and Friday afternoon.
In Beech, we learn to work collaboratively as well as independently, developing on our Key Stage 1 skills, throughout a wide range of subjects and engaging interesting and fun topics.
As a class, we work together through discussing our ideas and learning from one another. We aim to create an environment of supportive learning which develops the key skills and learning from one another as a group.
Spellings are taught each week on Friday morning, and reinforced throughout the week through word and sentence work as well as handwriting. We have a spelling test on Friday morning. We also practice our end of year expectation multiplication tables and have weekly progress checks. Year 3 are expected to recall and use multiplication and division facts for 2x, 5x, 10x, 3x, 4x and 8x tables. We engage in ‘quick maths’ sessions every afternoon for 15 minutes to work on our instant recall within Maths.
We read every day either with our teacher in a guided reading session, with another adult or independently, and have access to lots of book s in our classroom.
